Sustainability Research + Design

We are Future Commons, a sustainability research & design studio. We engage in diverse projects ranging from architecture to planning. Throughout the years, the studio has maintained balance between industria and academia by closing the loop between theory and practice.
We design environments that respond to the context and the users’ expressed, implied, and hidden aspirations. Part of our process is the constant zooming in and zooming out into the different aspects of a project. We help clients realize their dream spaces by engaging in research and critical analysis.
We believe in possibilities and potentials as we maintain our sense of wonder in every design challenge. We believe in re-inventing the wheel as we question the status quo. This approach allows us to challenge design stereotypes in a world obsessed with form. Future Commons strives for authenticity as we present options focused on content.

our tiny office
Less is more. In an effort to reduce the office footprint, our tiny studio was constructed. The design and construction process was part design research exercise and part therapy during the first year of the covid pandemic. In an era of zoom meetings and thirty second commutes, the tiny office is an efficient work space that can easily be maintained.
